Your Coley and Your Southcote

So many wonderful unique communities make up the town of Reading. Your Coley and Your Southcote are the final communities in our series to be featured and include Southcote Library, Holy Brook Nook, the mini Police at Southcote Primary, Royal Berkshire Archives, bench with a view and lots more.

Commemorative plaque added to mark Jane Austen's former school

A plaque has been installed on the Abbey Gateway to honour Jane Austen. It is part of 250th anniversary celebrations of the novelist's birth.

Going quackers for Reading's new residents

Some lovely pictures showing the journey of the Civic Centre's very own duck family making their way to water.

A sepia-toned photograph shows a group of me sitting on a boat in the Thames. Seven men, dressed in old-fashioned swimsuits and wearing buckets over their heads, are seated on the edge with their feet in the water. Behind them stand five men in suits are standing in the boat.

Exhibition tells story of local people and the River Thames

The new exhibition at the Royal Berkshire Archives is on from 11 June to 29 August. It includes records from the earliest settlers to interviews with current river users.
