Apply for a provisional statement
Before you apply for a provisional statement, we would recommend reading our Statement of Licensing Policy.
To apply, you will need to provide the following:
- a completed application for a provisional statement – we would suggest you submit a draft copy of your application to the licensing team before making a formal application
- plans of the works to be done at the premises in accordance with our applicant and licence holder guidance
- where the premises has not yet been constructed, the fee of £315 – if the premises has already been constructed, your fee will be based on the non-domestic rateable value of your property as per the table below

What happens after applying
Upon submitting your application, you are required to:
- display a blue notice on your premises for a period of no less than 28 consecutive days, starting on the day after the day on which the application was submitted/received by us
- advertise your application in a newspaper that circulates in Reading within ten working days of your application being accepted by us
