Hackney carriages table of fares

The driver must, unless he has reasonable excuse, accept any hiring if the destination is inside the Borough of Reading. If the hiring ends outside the Borough, you must be charged a fare based on this table unless a fare or rate of fare is agreed before the start of your journey.

Tariff 1 – for hirings between 6am and 10pm each day

Tariff 2 – for hirings between 10pm and 6am each day

For hirings between 6pm and 10pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve and between 6am and 10pm on all the above specified days

For hirings between 10pm and midnight on all the above specified days and between midnight and 6am on on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, any other public holiday

1. Additional passengers – 40p per additional person (ie excluding the hirer) up to £2.00 max (manually added to final fare)
2. Fouling of vehicle exterior – £25.00
   Fouling of vehicle interior – £75.00
   Soiling the carriage leaving it unfit for immediate subsequent hiring (not shown on meter). Both payable to driver immediately
3. Extra road usage charges may be payable by the passenger(s) depending on the journey, for example pick-up and/or drop off points at airports, congestion fees, toll road fees
4. Credit and debit cards – all major debit and credit cards are accepted. No additional charge is made for this service

Comments or complaints about your driver or cab should be sent to the Licensing Section, Civic Centre, Reading RG1 2LU with the number of the driver’s badge, which the driver must be wearing and the licence plate number of the cab or use the QR code displayed inside the vehicle.
