Safeguarding Adults Level 1: Awareness
This course is delivered as blended learning with two parts. You must complete BOTH parts to complete the course and you must complete Part 1 BEFORE attending the workshop.
Part 1 is a presentation which you can watch at a time to suit you. This will take about 1 hour to complete. Watch Part 1.
Part 2 is a 1.5 hour online workshop for discussion. You can apply to attend a session here.

Target Group
All staff whose work may bring them into direct contact with vulnerable adults.
For Reading Borough Council staff, this training is mandatory for adult social care and housing staff who have direct contact with adult service users and for managers of staff in such roles.
Course Aims
To enable all who come into contact with adults where circumstances make them vulnerable to abuse to respond in line with Berkshire’s Multi-Agency Safeguarding Adults Policy and Procedures.
Course Outcomes
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
- Describe circumstances that can make adults vulnerable to abuse
- Recognise possible indicators of abuse
- Respond in line with the safeguarding procedures if abuse is found or suspected
- Report and record appropriately
- Recognise your duty of care to safeguard adults
- Describe the link between the multi-agency procedures and other key legislation, policies and procedures, including safeguarding children
- Understand importance of professional boundaries and the consequences of breach.
