Lone worker tier 2 training
This course is for staff who work alone visiting private residences, businesses or other external premises or other isolated locations. It is also suitable for staff who visit Reading Borough Council buildings alone outside of regular working hours e.g. caretakers.
This workshop is intended to provide staff with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage the risks. The focus will be on correctly assessing & managing risk and taking appropriate measures to mitigate them.
After attending the course delegates will:
- Be aware of key strategies for assessing and managing risk in both formal and dynamic situations.
- Make appropriate choices in order to stay safe.
- Ensure that the activities being carried out are suitable for a lone working situation.
- Use simple and easy to remember techniques to safely disengage from a situation.
- Minimise the risk of injury to staff and service users and avoid the prospect of legal or disciplinary action.
- Have an understanding of how other people may affect your safety (e.g. with aggressive and challenging behaviour)
- And be able to use a simple conflict resolution model.
Learners will need to be familiar with the ‘Code of Practice 15 – Personal Safety and Lone Working’ which can be found on the Reading Educational Services website. This course is delivered by Worthwhile Training via Zoom.
