Tell us you are moving
If you move house, it is important you tell us as soon as possible so we can send your the correct Council Tax bill.
You must tell us if you:
- have bought a property, even if you are not living there
- have sold a property
- have moved into Reading (whether you own or rent the property)
- have moved out of Reading (whether you own or rent the property)
- have moved from one property to another property within Reading (whether you own or rent the property)
- own a property and have moved out and the property is empty
- are the landlord and tenants have moved in or out of the property
Additional advice for tenants
You will be liable for the Council Tax charge for the whole of your tenancy agreement, even if you are not living there. If you landlord agrees to end your tenancy at an earlier date you will need to provide us with evidence.
Once we have updated our records a Council Tax bill will be issued to you.
Before you complete the correct form below, you must make sure your address falls within the Reading Borough Council area – check your address falls into the Reading Borough Council area.
Use our online change of address forms to tell us of the change:
- Use this form if you are moving into Reading and do not have a current Council Tax account
- Use this form if you are moving out of Reading
- Use this form if you are moving out of Reading and in receipt of Housing Benefit
- use this form if you are a landlord and your tenants are either moving into or out of your Reading property – Landlords – tenants moving in or out
- Use this form if you are moving around Reading where you already have a Council Tax account
