Documents needed to apply for housing

Please have these documents available to upload before starting your application. If you do not submit the documents when you complete your application it may not be processed.

Proof of identity

For each member of the household you will need to upload one of the following:

• passport/ID card
• full birth certificate
• biometric card (if applicable)

Proof of residency/proof of local connection

You need to prove you have lived in Reading borough for the past 3 years continuously (unless you are relying on alternative qualification criteria).

Please upload:

• one bill/official letter dated within the last 3 months showing your current address

And one of the following:

• Council Tax – evidence of address for the last 3 years, one per year
• bank statement or other official letters – one per year dating back for the last 3 years

Proof of tenure

Please upload the following:

• mortgage statement or deeds for any property owned by you or your partner
• tenancy/licence agreement signed by all parties

Proof of savings

Please upload all documents showing savings, which may include bank and ISA statements.

Proof of pregnancy

Please upload the following:

• MatB1 certificate from your GP/midwife
• GP notes confirming your expected due date

Proof of sold properties

Please upload the following:

• completion statement for all property previously owned clearly showing equity received from the sale
