Fairview Community Centre
Fairview Youth and Community Centre is newly built community centre that is closely linked with Civitas Academy – a local community school. It is a single storey, open plan building that is fully accessible.
The centre is primarily run as a venue for hire for individuals, clubs and organisations which provide activities, opportunities and services to the community. These include parent and baby classes, charity/youth groups and other recreational activities.
How to find us
Fairview Centre is within walking distance of Reading town centre and the main train station (approximately 10 minutes).
Parking
Please note: if you choose to travel by car, there is very limited parking available at the centre due to its location, therefore we advise walking or getting a taxi.
Hiring this venue
The person hiring this venue must be at least 21 years of age and we may ask for evidence of age. The Community Room holds 80 people (standing) or 50 people (seated) and the Meeting Room holds 15 people.
You will need to pay a £100 deposit in accordance with the terms and conditions below. The deposit is a separate charge from the private function rates of each room:
Non charity rate:
- Community Room £20 per hour
- Meeting Room 1 £11.40 per hour
Charity/not for profit, RBC and BFfC rate:
- Community Room £17 per hour
- Meeting Room 1 £7.40 per hour
The building must be closed by 9.30pm every day.
One of hires will be subject to a fee of £25.00 plus VAT to allow for the security company to open and close the building. On public bank holidays these fees is doubled.’ These hires will also be subject to a £100 booking deposit which is refundable providing the building is left as per our terms and conditions.
All groups and organisations will be required to provide a copy of their public liability insurance. Private hires will be charged an additional 11% to covered by the Reading Borough Council policy
This is a non-smoking building, including vaping and e-cigarettes. This includes the grounds of the property, smoking must be outside of the property.
Supporting information
Some events may need you to send in extra information. Please see the list below:
- Evidence of Public Liability Insurance at a minimum indemnity of £5million
- A copy of your safeguarding policy if you are running activities for people under 19
- A food hygiene certificate if you plan to serve food to the public
- If you are planning to sell alcohol at your event, you need to obtain a Temporary Event Notices (TEN)
- A copy of your adults safeguarding policy if you are running sessions which may have vulnerable adults attending
