Katesgrove Community hub

Katesgrove Community Hub has been recently refurbished. It is a multipurpose building offering services for Reading Borough Council and Brighter Futures for Children. 

The venue comprises of a spacious hall along with several smaller meeting rooms which are available to hire to members of the Community.

How to find us

Katesgrove Community hub is located along Elgar Road and is easily accessible from the centre of Reading (approximately 15 minutes walk). The nearest bus route is number 11, which provides a regular service throughout the day. The bus stop you need to use is called Katesgrove Lane.

Parking

Please note: if you choose to travel by car, there is very limited parking available at the centre due to its location, therefore we advise walking, travelling by bus or getting a taxi.

Hiring this venue

The person hiring this venue must be at least 21 years of age and we may ask for evidence of age. The Hall holds 90 people (standing) or 60 people (seated). Kelvin Room holds 4-6 people, Olly Room holds 4-6 people, Meadow Room holds 8 people and Juan-Claud Room holds 6 people.

You will need to pay a £100 deposit in accordance with the terms and conditions below. The deposit is a separate charge from the private function rates of each room:

Non-charity rate:

  • Hall/kitchenette £20 per hour
  • Kelvin Room £11.40 per hour
  • Olly Room £11.40 per hour
  • Meadow Room £11.40 per hour
  • Juan-Claud Room £11.40 per hour

Charity/not for profit, RBC and BFfC rate:

  • Hall/kitchenette £17 per hour
  • Kelvin Room £7.40 per hour
  • Olly Room £7.40 per hour
  • Meadow Room £7.40 per hour
  • Juan-Claud Room £7.40 per hour

One of hires will be subject to a fee of £25.00 plus VAT to allow for the security company to open and close the building.  On public bank holidays these fees is doubled.’  These hires will also be subject to a £100 booking deposit which is refundable providing the building is left as per our terms and conditions.

All groups and organisations will be required to provide a copy of their public liability insurance.  Private hires will be charged an additional 11% to covered by the Reading Borough Council policy.

This is a non-smoking building, including vaping and e-cigarettes. This includes the grounds of the property, smoking must be outside of the property.

Supporting information

Some events may need you to send in extra information. Please see the list below:

  • Evidence of Public Liability Insurance at a minimum indemnity of £5million
  • A copy of your safeguarding policy if you are running activities for people under 19
  • A food hygiene certificate if you plan to serve food to the public
  • If you are planning to sell alcohol at your event, you need to obtain a Temporary Events Notice
  • A copy of your adults safeguarding policy if you are running sessions which may have vulnerable adults attending
