Reading Biodiversity Action Plan
The Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP), produced in March 2021, is an overall framework for conserving biodiversity, which means the variety of life and its processes, within Reading. It aims to ensure that by 2030 Reading will be richer in wildlife, be better connected to the wider landscape and that biodiversity loss will have been reversed. It also places biodiversity at the heart of the Council’s activities.
The BAP was produced through joint working between the Council and its partners. It contains a number of objectives for biodiversity, together with actions to deliver those objectives.
The BAP will be reviewed on a regular basis, and the version of the document on this page is therefore likely to change as and when required. Please check this page for the latest version.
The BAP is strongly related to the Tree Strategy, which was produced and consulted upon at the same time. Both documents help to achieve aspects of Reading’s Climate Emergency Strategy, the response to the Climate Emergency declared by the Council in February 2019.
