Sponsor a street tree
We have started a partnership with the charity Trees for Streets, the National Street Tree Sponsorship Scheme. The aim of this scheme is to connect communities with trees, nature, the environment and their neighbourhood.
Trees can play an important role in increasing our resilience to the impacts of climate change, improving air quality, and improving wildlife habitats.
Tell us where you’d like your street tree planted
The Trees for Streets website offers residents the ability to select a planting location and check it’s suitability online.
Easy process
Simply submit your sponsorship request along with your donation payment details (no payment is taken until your sponsorship is confirmed) on the Trees for Streets website. The council’s tree team then survey the location to see whether it is suitable. If all is ok, an instant impact 3 – 4 metre tree will be planted, by our contractor, between November and April.
Why sponsor a tree?
Trees deliver lots of benefits in our neighbourhoods. By sponsoring a street tree, you’ll be helping to:
- combat climate change and pollution
- create shade and help with cooling
- improve the health and wellbeing of everyone in your neighbourhood
- protect from flooding
- create a haven for wildlife
- leave a legacy for future generations to enjoy
Deadline
We set a deadline for sponsorship requests on the 3 December each year for planting by the end of April the following year. This gives us enough time to survey your location, order the tree and schedule the contractor.
