Local cycle routes

The issue  

The local cycle network is sometimes disjointed and uses indirect routes. The quality of routes can also be of low quality.  

The scheme  

Enhancements to cycling in this scheme include:  

• New or improved local cycle network 
• Shared or segregated foot/cycleways 
• Improvements to local routes to include cycles for those with specific mobility needs 
• Incorporate Healthy Streets principles  

The outcome  

• Improved accessibility for all users  
• Cycling encouraged, particularly for shorter journeys 
• Reduced cycle journey times
• Safety enhancements for cyclists 
• Congestion and air quality improvements
