Clinical waste
We provide free one-off or regular collections of clinical waste for residents treating themselves at home. Clinical waste is anything that could be infected or hazardous e.g.:
- Blood or bodily fluids
- Dialysis waste
- Stoma bags
- Medical swabs and dressings
- Syringes and needles
Double-wrap other medical waste (incontinence pads, nappies etc.) and put in your grey rubbish bin.
Residents requiring a clinical waste collection should be referred to the council by their GP surgery, district nurse or NHS Trust. Such referrals should be in writing either by letter or email, and be clearly identifiable as coming from the patient’s medical providers.
To cancel or book a clinical waste collection please phone 0118 937 3787.
